This tool helps to quickly translate chord progression formulas into chords.
It can also help a beginning musician to transpose songs with 'difficult' chords to something more playable :)
You wish the song would start from Em instead of Fm so it would be easier to play it on a guitar?
You can find new chords for the song:
Click on the arrows until you find the
first chord of the song in the first row of the table.
In our example it would be G#, Fm and a whole bunch
of scary barre chords. Now click the left arrow button and here we go, a good old family of beginner
friendly G, Em, C, Am and so on.
Keep flipping there and back and rememeber where the original chord was, to find his alternative at the
same position
Now you can just take a pencil, write a new set of chords next to the original ones and have fun.
You can also keep clicking the left or right arrow until you find a different set of chords which might for instance suite your voice better.
This is grossly oversimplified and would certainly make music theorists go berserk, but guess what? It works 9 out of 10 times.
If you want to translate a chord progression formula into chords, copy/paste or type the formula
in the orange input box on the top right and use the transposition arrows to see the formula translated into chords.
Here's a small list of links to different interesting chord progressions and related
resources on the internet. Click on the orange link to copy a progression
into the translator.
